Love First Certified Clinical Interventionist Psychotherapist

As a certified Love First Clinical Interventionist and Psychotherapist, I specialize in assisting individuals grappling with addiction and offering support to their families as they navigate the journey to recovery. My extensive background includes working in various healthcare settings, such as medical detox, residential care, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), and intensive outpatient care (IOP). I approach my work with a focus on leveraging individuals’ strengths and employ evidence-based therapeutic methods, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing.

With more than a decade of dedicated experience in the field of addiction, I prioritize empathy and humor as key elements of my approach. I have undergone intensive training in diverse therapeutic modalities to ensure that each client receives personalized and tailored treatment. I’ve successfully intervened in numerous cases, facilitating the transition of clients to the appropriate level of care suited to their unique needs.

My commitment to the well-being of others is marked by genuine empathy and a profound interest in their welfare, which I combine with a touch of humor. I maintain a present-oriented perspective and adhere to healthy boundaries, recognizing the significance of cultural sensitivity. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Over time we have all developed coping skills which help us deal with everyday problems. Sometimes, we experience a crisis or a series of stressors and our normal resilience, our ability to cope, is overwhelmed. This is a time when we may need professional help. Therapy can help us navigate through difficult times and eventually lead us to richer, more satisfying lives.

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, I have had extensive and varied professional experience, working with adults and adolescents from diverse backgrounds. I employ an evidence-based, cognitive behavioral approach, with an emphasis on recognizing and replacing distorted thought patterns. I believe, “We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are.” My years working with clients in the field of mental health has given me confidence that we can change ourselves.

Positive change, though sometimes difficult, is self-reinforcing. Becoming willing to accept challenges, while experiencing some fear in the process, learning to say, “no”, where appropriate, establishing healthy boundaries with others, are empowering and enable us to become more authentic individuals. Becoming more inner-directed in a productive way enhances our self-esteem and enables us to become more adaptive and able to heal and grow in the face of life’s challenges and transitions.

I am experienced with EMDR for addressing PTSD issues.

As a therapist, I am always committed to my client’s potential and well being. I focus on my client’s strengths and core values to collaborate with them to find healing and solutions for their therapeutic needs. Empathy, constructive listening and feedback are combined with theory and holistic evidence-based practices to provide effective clinical support.

Over the course of my career, I have worked with diverse patient populations in various settings. These settings range from working in medically managed intensive inpatient detoxification services, to clinically supervising a 24-bed, 28-day residential treatment program, to outpatient individual therapy.

I am dually licensed and competent in treatment of mental health and substance abuse/addiction issues. The techniques I use depend on what is best suited for you and may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and motivational interviewing. I look forward to working with you in session.

Psychotherapist

Welcome! I am currently accepting new clients! I provide a casual and safe virtual environment for individuals, couples, and families. My approach is rooted in recovery-oriented living, helping clients envision and achieve balance in their lives, whether they are recovering from trauma, addiction, or other mental health challenges. My goal is to collaborate with clients to address emotional, cognitive, and behavioral imbalances.

I specialize in treating trauma, addiction, mood disorders, and codependency. As an integrative therapist, I rely heavily on DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) skills, but I also incorporate EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Interpersonal Therapy, Family and Couples Therapy, and more. Each client receives individualized care tailored to their specific needs.

I understand how difficult it can be to make the choice to work on yourself. It’s natural to feel nervous or frightened about what you might uncover. In our first session, we’ll conduct a full assessment to identify areas of focus and develop a plan from there. With an empathetic approach, let’s create a safe and functional environment to do the tough emotional work together.

When not working, I enjoy relaxing at home, spending time with family and friends, and finding new ways to procrastinate from mowing the lawn.
